Set up by the government in 2018, the CDEI has a unique remit: to help the UK navigate the ethical challenges presented by data-driven technology and AI.
We are an independent expert committee, formed of a secretariat of civil servants and led by a board of experts from across industry, civil society, academia and government.
Roger Taylor, our Chair, has worked in regulation in health, education and criminal justice and also chairs Ofqual. He co-founded Dr Foster, which pioneered the use of public data to monitor healthcare quality.
Our blog will be used to share ideas, updates and news about the CDEI’s work and its impact on government, industry and wider society.
